"Heidi is great to work with: dedicated, tireless, and she really cares about content and grammar. She also has a great sense of humor and is a joy to work with. Heidi is a perfectionist and will not let your manuscript be sent off before it’s ready and in great shape. She is also sensitive enough to work with you and allow your voice to come through and be fully represented.

I would not write another book without her."

-- John Dupuy, author of Integral Recovery: A Revolutionary Approach to the Treatment of Alcoholism and Addiction, winner of the 2013 USA Best Book Award in its field.

"Heidi took a looong boring web interview of me, and, uh, well, yeah, made me sound, like, intelligent!! After I read the edited version, my ego was lifted as I thought myself articulate and fluid with words. Then it dawned on me it was mostly Heidi's magic, and I thought long and hard but can't get her magic into my day to day spoken life. When the occasional published text arises, I gladly turn to Heidi's brilliance!"

-- Robert Costanza, Artist

"There's one main reason why I always come back to Heidi: she is not only able to respectfully breathe the place I write from, but beyond excellent at spotting all that would have remained obscure, illuminating it with new light. And that's how magic becomes."

When I asked Heidi Mitchell if she would like to edit my manuscript, her enthusiastic YES had us jumping into a canoe together to begin the grand adventure of running the rapids of words, sentence structure, punctuation, and adding/subtracting text. Heidi in the back, with her editing paddle acting as the rudder, kept me on a course that allowed the current of each chapter to flow and become glassy smooth.

This was so much fun -- learning how to fine tune each and every sentence, and hone my memories and experiences into the right words. Because Heidi is a dreamer and moved by all the wonder in our world, seen and unseen, she could readily dive into and understand my memoir, which was essential for me in an editor because of the intimacy of my stories.

I so much appreciated her creativity in finding just the right way to express what is so deeply personal for me, even to the point of awaking in the night and having a sentence that was nagging at her become illuminated, then writing to tell me about it in the morning. Not only was Heidi unfailingly kind and gentle with this first-time book writer, but a great playmate on the mighty river of language and story.

-- Annie Bloom, author of Buffalo Dreamer: A Lifetime of Wilderness Vigils, A Memoir (2025)

"As a first-time author, it was delightful working with Heidi as my editor. She was very helpful in making the words more concise, clearer, and more to the essence of their meaning. Her insight was very valuable to me and my final book. Heidi made doing my book a graceful and enjoyable process.I can't wait to work with her again in the future!"
